Isn’t it annoying when men are right? My husband is right most of the time, but it’s still annoying. Recently I saw three interviews with different men, and I must admit, I pulled out
Tim McGraw
52-year old Tim McGraw recently lost 40 pounds after his daughter saw a photo of him and commented, “Dad, you’re really big.”
McGraw made no excuses. He admitted that when he was on the road, he was “ordering room service, hitting up fast food joints at pit stops, and partying after shows.” Following his daughter’s remark, he began to overhaul his lifestyle. His quote of note:
“First you have to accept the things you can’t control.” –Tim McGraw
Yes, we wished we’d said that. (And Tim has more to say on the subject in his new book, Grit and Grace: Train Your Mind, Train Your Body, Own Your Life.)
Magic Johnson
Earvin “Magic” Johnson, 60, is an NBA superstar, inspirational speaker, and sports icon. At
In an interview on the Today show, Johnson spoke about what it took to overcome the news about his health and how he was able to move on with his life:
“It was about accepting my new status and being comfortable with it.” –Magic Johnson
Another “aha” moment. (A good one, I must admit.)
Peter Morgan, Director of “The Crown”
If you are like me, you are eagerly awaiting the return of season III of “The Crown.” (Which airs Sunday, November 17 on Netflix). And if you’ve heard rumors of young actors being replaced, by older ones, the rumors are true.
When Director Peter Morgan was asked why Claire Foy could not simply have been “aged” with the help of makeup and wigs, his reply was:
“Life experience takes its toll on our faces–and the way we carry our shoulders.” — Peter Morgan
Like we really wanted to hear that!
But ladies, let’s face it, men seem to handle change–with acceptance (and action)–much better than we do. They are simple creatures, but their wisdom to just “flow with it” is something we gals can learn from.
Thanks, guys…I guess.
How do the men in your life handle change and aging? Please comment below. We love YOUR comments.

It’s hard to admit, but I like all of those quotes. My husband is like your husband and he’s right a lot of the time (I can’t quite say most of the time). It can be tough having such perfect (or almost perfect) husbands!
We must admit, we can learn from men. And in the case of aging and acceptance, they seem to have a very wise outlook.
Thanks for writing.
