Even GUYS Can Use a Little Color
February 12, 2020

I recently gave a presentation to a group of professional ladies, and one important point I hoped they took away from my talk is that “COLOR TRULY IS OUR FRIEND.”

Janna and I mention it over and over in our book, Quintessential Style: “As we age, we lose color–in our skin, our hair, our lips. And the best way to rejuvenate ourselves is by adding complementary color with makeup, clothing, and accessories.”

This photograph says it all. (I love this brave woman!)

The other day when I received an advertisement from Aran Sweater Market I couldn’t help but notice these fine looking gentlemen in the ad. But, as I compared the photographs one thing stood out to me.

Can you guess what it was?

Is it just me, or did you also notice that when the boys wear a sweater with color, their faces looked more radiant? As opposed to their complexions when they wear white or ivory?

I noticed the neutral white and ivory washed out their complexions. Am I wrong?

In the first photo, blue boy has a healthier glow, and in the second photo, green guy’s complexion comes alive.

Am I just imagining this???

I just had to find a few more examples of men in glorious color:

George Clooney in two-tone blue.
Sam Heughan matched his shirt to his eye color. Wow.
Hugh Jackman. Don’t you just love a man in pink?

I sure had FUN writing this blog!

My husband has eyes that change depending on the color he wears. When he wears blue they look blue and turn green if he’s wearing green or browns. With other colors they turn gray. So I’m always looking for colors to put a sparkle in his eyes.
