T-Shirts: Are you a crew neck or a V-neck girl?
November 5, 2020

I have never been a real fan of t-shirts, but lately I’ve found myself pulling out every novelty top I own, since I don’t really have to dress up when I’m cleaning out a closet or pulling weeds in the garden.

If you are a t-shirt girl, do you gravitate more towards crew necks or V-necks?

And now, with cooler weather just ahead, you might be considering sweatshirts.

Just how flattering is your t-shirt?

I think the reason I don’t wear many t-shirts is because they seem to make my neck look like a stump.

In the Line and Design Chapter of Quintessential Style (page 35), we say that V-necks are universally flattering on most everybody, because they visually elongate the neck. (And anything that elongates, creates a slimming effect.)

The choice is yours, of course.

I even decided to convert some of my crew necks into v-necks.

But, don’t make my mistake. I cut my neckband wrong and it ended up looking like this.

I should have gone to Youtube…yikes!

To convert your crew necks to v-necks, I found a great youtube how-to. Click here.

However, we also mention in Q Style (page 43), that if you have a very pointed chin and wear a V-neck, the shape of your chin may actually be emphasized. Take a look.

I absolutely love Reese Witherspoon. But, can you see it?

Overall, guys tend to look better in crew necks. Don’t you agree?

Just a little something to think about while you’re stranded at home.

Please let me know how you wear your t-shirts.

I’m not much of a t-shirt fan either but I am a V-Neck girl. Since I’m definitely not a seamstress I wouldn’t even attempt to try and convert t-shirts, LOL.

    Lita,
My attempt didn’t turn out too well. My husband bought us matching shirts. He needs to read this blog, so next time he’ll just get me a v-neck! Thanks for writing.

I find I love turtlenecks more than ever as I age but haven’t tried jewelry yet with them or other accessories…. what do you suggest? Thanks!!!

    Debbie,
What a great subject for a blog. I’ll get right on that for next week.
    Thanks for thinking of it!

I rarely wear them either, so I don’t really know which neckline I prefer. I do prefer a long sleeve and in those I have both types of necklines and like both., perhaps that is just because I like the shirts themselves. Thanks for causing me to ponder.

    Sharon,
Pondering t-shirt necklines seems kind of ridiculous, now that I think of it. But, maybe it will lighten our day and get our minds off other things.
    Thanks for writing!
