Whether you realize it or not, you are communicating with more than just your voice when you use your cell phone. The cell phone case you carry speaks volumes about your style, and says a lot about “who you are.”
If personal style extends to almost every area of our lives, can our style even be reflected in something as simple as a cell phone case? I decided to perform an impromptu experiment. At a recent holiday gathering, I asked some friends to pull out their cell phones. I wanted to test my hypothesis.
In an analysis of cell phone cases having a direct correlation to personality and individual style, my conjecture was correct. It seems–as in most matters–our personal style comes to the forefront…even when we purchase something as innocent as a cover for our cell phone. Take a look at these cases in point (no pun intended):
Charlotte says she likes angular lines and a modern look. She chose her cell phone case because it reminded her of the Art Deco design period.
Min has a timeless, feminine style–as evidenced by the exquisite pearls she is wearing. She is beautiful in her soft, classic simplicity. Now look at her phone case–it completely matches the outfit she is wearing. (She didn’t even realize it until I pointed it out to her.)
“STYLE is all about making choices. Whether you are putting together an outfit, designing a room, setting a table, …or choosing a cell phone case.”
Jo Ann is a teacher. She is completely organized and looks totally “put together” no matter the occasion. If you have a job, Jo Ann will get it done with a smile and with style. She is the type of teacher who remembers the name of every student she ever taught (and their parents’ names, too).
The ‘teacher’ in Jo Ann is ingrained. Note the practical side of this lady–she places a sticker on the back of her phone case. Who does that? An exceptionally conscientious person, that’s who.
Jo Ann says she loves lime green and blue together. These vibrant colors speak volumes about her personality.
(An interesting side note is that Jo Ann said the last time she saw her sister, the two of them had the very same phone case. Amazing coincidence.)
Gail loves classic, yet modern design. She combines clean lines and a sophisticated look, with warmth and elegance. Her exquisite style is reflected not only in her personality and in the way she dresses, but in every choice she makes.
Gail recently remodeled her kitchen. Do you see the similarity in the lines and colors in her phone cover and the selections she made for her kitchen? (Striking silver-gray and white tones.) She wasn’t even aware of it until we noticed it together.
Lynn is a true style aficionado. She injects her ‘signature’ into everything; whether she’s dressing, designing a room, or choosing a cell phone.
Lynn describes her style as soft, feminine, and subtle. She is a connoisseur of quality.
At the moment she has no case for her phone (because her grandchildren are designing one for her as a gift). But if you look closely, you will see the color she chose for her smartphone is a soft, shimmery rose gold. Quite appropriate for this lovely lady.
Two words come to mind when describing my friend Jan–totally together. Jan definitely knows herself and her signature style. She wears outfits with impeccable fit and flair, while injecting loads of femininity.
When she pulled out her phone to show me, I was not surprised that it matched her bag to a tee, which matched her hair to a tee. All combining to create a timeless look of perfection.
Of course you remember Hilde, Her phone case pretty much says everything about her: glitzy, fun, and fabulous. How could you not love a gal with so much enthusiasm?
Whether she is traveling, performing charity work, or meeting for lunch, Hilde is the life of the party.
She simply sparkles–just like her cell phone case.
Sharon B. is quietly refined and delicately feminine. Her style is ‘quintessential’ sincerity. Her delightful Jamaican accent will woo you, and her girlish laugh is unforgettable.
Who would be surprised that her phone case is a soft pink with a hint of gray? Sharon can entice you with her sweet voice, but beware of her mischievous sense of humor.
(Today she is especially happy, because she is revealing photos of her new grand baby, Rosalee.)
My experiment has come to its conclusion. And the conclusion is:
Your cell phone case says a lot about you…Can you hear that?
Take a look at your own cell phone case. You might be surprised at just how much that small, rectangular cover reveals about your style.
Thank you, dear friends, for helping me with my blog this week, and making my job so interesting. (I apologize that I could not include everyone in this post. But, never fear, there will be many more posts to come!)

Diane,
Just ask your kids to get you a new case for Christmas. Ask them to get you one that ‘looks like you!’
