When I grow up, I want to be just like her…
September 9, 2015
CItifed
Longtime friends, Pat Cobb and Maxine Willingham.

I may live in a small Texas town, but I sure have a lot of chic friends. I was lucky enough to be invited to a luncheon and style show this afternoon for the City Federation of Women’s Clubs. This longstanding organization’s members include some of the loveliest and savviest ladies you’d ever want to know. When I grow up, I want to be just like them…vivacious, stylish, and full of fun!

Of course I mean that tongue-in-cheek. I’m already grown–age 56 to be exact, but some of these women are 20 years my senior, and I honestly never feel an age difference when I’m with them. Why? Because they all have that certain joie de vivre–joy of living. An admirable quality at any age.

Amazing models: Violet Okeson, Ann Secrest, Clarisse Wunsche, Ann Barkemeyer, and Dr. Barbara Weiss-Probe.

What’s their secret? They are all active, involved, and passionate for their causes, whether it be their families, their faith, their friends, or their charities.

Plus, they’ve all got their own quintessential style. And I learn something every time I see them. Thanks, ladies for all your inspiration. (And sending love to our dear Vanny, who could not be with us. You were sorely missed!)

I am reminded of a hymn that says, “We only have one life for living…”

Let’s make it amazing!

“It’s a well known ‘thing’ in the trade, that Texan women are the most enthusiastic, fashion concious, stylish and fun shoppers in the land”.
I met lots of lovely Texan ladies in my boutiques in Chicago, I remember them well.

    Dear Adele,
What a lovely comment from a super-stylish woman herself. Thank you for writing. If readers don’t know, Adele owned a beautiful boutique in Chicago, and now lives in Miami. When I have a question on fashion, I turn to Adele.
    Thanks, sweet friend.
