Back by Popular Demand: Favorite Ways to Wear a Winter Scarf
January 18, 2018

If your neck is freezing right now–and whose isn’t–here’s a stylish scarf tying technique I posted last year.  I learned about the Pretzel Knot from style blogger Elaine Parisi (OMG Lifestyle Blog).

The trick here is the second step. Twist the bottom of your scarf into a loop. Then pull each side through. (Photo credit: Pinterest)

Use a long, rectangular scarf or pashmina to create this very flattering look. Remember my blog about losing our necks in our scarves (Hey, Where Did My Neck Go?) Ha. You won’t do that with this technique.

You can even embellish your scarf with a pin. (Use a lighter weight scarf in spring.)

My wonderful friend Helen gave me another great scarf idea. If you have a large square scarf, but the size and texture make it too big and bulky to wear, simply cut the scarf in half–at a diagonal–and create two smaller triangles.

Helen cut her huge square scarf into two smaller triangles. (She gave the other half to her sister.)

She draped it over her shoulders…

then swooped it to one side.

Adds color, texture, and warmth.

Brava, Helen. Thanks for the fabulous tip!

Stay warm, friends!

Helen was so brave to cut her scarf in half. I would have a hard time doing that.

Yes, Janet. But isn’t it better than sitting in a drawer, not being worn, because it’s simply too bulky?

A printed photo of your instructions is posted inside my coat closet, so that I can refer to it for scarf wear. Thanks, again!

    Linda,
Great idea to post near your coat closet! Yesterday I even found myself fumbling to try and remember the steps…and I’m the one who posted the blog! Yikes
