This week I am thrilled to be interviewing British style blogger, Josephine Lalwan. Her website, Chic At Any Age, is one of my favorites.
Fashion Globe Magazine writes: “Josephine has embraced aging without hesitation …It is no wonder that her style blog, ‘Chic at Any Age,’ has become a household name among older women.”
Josephine describes herself; “…a woman of mature years currently married to a gorgeous man. I have two adult children and three wonderful grandsons. I spend my time between London and St. Tropez.”
Josephine spent most of her working life connected to fashion. She worked as an image consultant. And in the corporate world of fashion PR, she conducted seminars, coached, and spoke at conferences.
Here are some questions I had for Josephine:
If you could describe your style using 3-4 words, what would they be? Classic with a twist and a touch of eccentricity.
In Q Style, we say dressing is all about unspoken communication. What would you like your style to express about you before you even utter a word? Creative, Approachable positivity.
What is the thought process you go through each morning as you head to your closet to dress for the day? “I first check the weather forecast, then I think about what activities I have for the day, and who I will be meeting.”
Do you ever get overwhelmed with the many choices and fast-moving trends the fashion industry presents? “I do check trends, but I don’t get confused. I stick to what suits me and works for my lifestyle. I do sometimes experiment with new trends–normally choosing more budget friendly items and accessories.”
Where do you find ideas/ inspiration for your blog posts? “I read other blogs and do research on the internet. My blog is really a reflection of my experiences as an older woman. I find that if I write about what works for me and some the the issues I encounter, it seems to resonate with my readers.”
When asked what wisdom she has gleaned from her experience as an international style blogger, Josephine responds:
“I have learnt that we can learn from each other. I love it when my readers share their concerns. If I have inspired women to be bolder and experiment with fashion, that makes me very happy. I am grateful to be part of a wide community of older women who want to continue to look chic and elegant and have fun with clothes.”
And, of course I would be remiss if I didn’t ask Josephine about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming wedding on May 19th. Josephine says:
Ditto to that!
You can find Josephine at her website Chic At Any Age.
“As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic. Let us prove that we can also be a chic one.” … Josephine Lalwan
Brava, Josephine!

Sharon, I really liked this blog with Josephine. Through her comments I felt good about how I am changing my look as I age, adjusting to my lifestyle and the inevitable physical changes. I really did identify with much regarding Josephine’s style statement- mine has has some romantic and elegant thrown in! Being initially viewed as creative and approachable by others is great!
I too like to try trends and her wise advice to buy budget friendly is terrific.
Our population is aging and living longer. It is an issue I think about and I too want to continue to look good (chic), elegant, on-trend (not necessarily trendy), and, yes, fun in my clothes and accessories!
I want to be part of Josephine’s growing chic demographic!!
Good job, Sharon❣️
Diane,
It seems that change is inevitable no matter where we live. Let us embrace the transitions of aging as gracefully and positively as Josephine has.
What a great interview! I have found that after reading Q Style and getting the ongoing support from Sharon and Jana I have more interest in style and fashion than I have had in many years. And that in turn makes me feel younger somehow! I can’t wait to check out Chic at any Age! And I must confess, I have been known to get up in the middle of the night to catch a royal wedding. I, too, love to see what everyone is wearing. Especially the hats!!!!
Thanks, Sherry.
I don’t mind the early hour either…can’t wait until May 19th. We will all be watching!

Since I’m a Baby-Boomer, I am taking a lot more interest in how I look as I age. There are a lot of us around and I think Josephine (and Sharon and Jana) are helping us to embrace our looks at any age. We don’t need to put on a baggy boring outfit on so that we blend in. We need to be expressive and look great at every age. I too, will be up early to watch the wedding! I love looking at all the dresses, listening to the music and admiring the cathedral.
Brava, Janet,
You have embraced your style, even as you have matured and changed–which is inevitable for all of us.
Thanks for the inspiration.
How refreshing, Sharon, to hear from a fashion expert of a ‘certain age.’ I love her style and want to adopt it as my own. I have no tolerance for any clothes that are not comfortable and they need to hide my no-longer-existent waistline. Haha! Can she do my shopping for me? I’m going to hop over to her blog and see about that!
Molly,
You’ll have to jump ‘across the pond’ to have Josephine shop for you. But I have confidence that you can become your own personal shopper. Know yourself–your colors, your body, and your lifestyle–and you will become an expert at your own quintessential style!
Thanks for writing.
