Looking Great: At Every Age
April 24, 2019

I am delighted to introduce guest bloggers from Jodie’s Touch of Style: three women–all related–and all at different stages in their lives. Jodie (50+), mom Charlotte (80+), and stepmom Nancy (70+). Their inspiring mantra:

“It’s never too late to look great.”

Nancy

It was an honor to interview these “real women modeling real clothes”– each with their own viewpoint on personal style.

Jodie, Charlotte, and Nancy, if you could describe your “quintessential” style using 2-3 words, what would they be?

Jodie: colorful and fun

Charlotte: traditional elegance

Nancy: simple

“We are visual animals, we should use our clothes as the table of contents for what’s inside us.” …Jodie Filogomo

Can you give examples of how your skin, hair, and body have changed over the last 10-15 years?

Jodie: “My skin has definitely gotten drier and harder to keep hydrated. I’ve learned to use different oils to help, but it took a lot of experimenting to get it right.”

Charlotte: “My hair has changed to white and gotten thinner. I finally stopped dying it and get many compliments.”

Nancy: “My hair has gotten more wiry and has curls and frizz now. I’m looking to try a new haircut to make y life easier to deal with it. As for my skin, I’ve noticed more age spots…now I’m much better about using sunscreen and sometimes wear hats.”

Describe your thought process when you get dressed in the morning?

Jodie: “I  always like to incorporate something fun or interesting in my outfits no matter where I’m going. Whether that’s with print mixing or fun accessories.”

Charlotte: “I think about the occasion, what the weather is like, and how formal the event is going to be. I try not to be too outlandish for the group I’ll be hanging around.”

Nancy: “I vacillate between my “old self “which tends to be more frumpy. Opposed to my “evolved self” to make more of a statement and look like someone from a fashion blog.”

If you could own only one makeup item, what would it be?

Jodie: “Definitely lipstick–and lately I’m all about the all-day lipsticks, so I don’t have to reapply.

Charlotte: “Lipstick.”

Nancy: “I want two things…ha ha. Lipstick and concealer.”

Could each of you share a bit of personal wisdom you’ve gleaned over the years?

Jodie: “Be more open to new styles and throw out those rules we grew up with. Clothing and style should be fun, not a chore. It’s all about making us feel good and showing who we are on the inside.”

Charlotte: “Hang in there, baby!!”

Nancy: “Keep caring about how you look and how you feel, so you don’t go to pot.”

I discovered, through the interview, that all three women love to shop. And I can imagine how much fun these ladies have when they get together.

Thank you, Jodie, Charlotte, and Nancy for taking time out to share your journeys with us. Readers can see more and follow you at Jodie’s Touch of Style.com.

    Yes, Sherry.
I wish they lived closer, so we could meet them in person. (They live in Colorado.)
