Nothing Says Spring Like Bunnies, Baskets, and Birds
March 28, 2019

If you live in Texas, you know siting bluebonnets is the surest sign that spring has arrived. While the grass is greening, trees–seemingly overnight–plump with new leaves. Nature is preparing for a party outside, so let’s join the festivities by bringing our own splendor indoors.

This time of year, I like to pull out the 3 B’s: bunnies, baskets, and birds.

Bunnies

Here is a bunny I recently bought at St. Francis Gift Shop in Temple. This bunny has personality plus, but I just couldn’t leave it alone. Here’s how I added a little more whimsy to this fellow with bow and blush.

Just adding a bunny to anything makes it look more spring-like.

Those tulips aren’t real, but everyone asks me if they are.

Baskets

Does anyone else LOVE baskets as much as I do? Baskets are the kind of accessory that do single, double, triple duty. One of the best places to buy baskets is at antique malls or garage sales. I bought this one for about $8.00, and I use it for all sorts of things.

I like to put a basket holding my magazines under my coffee table. Easily accessible, but the magazines don’t clutter the table.

The same basket doubles as a flower container. I hid the plastic pots with green tulle.

Now, bring the birds inside.

An iron bird with sunflowers and eggs. Perfect with this Italian place setting. Courtesy of my girlfriend, Gail.

Friend Beverly says many of her Easter decorations were her mom’s. So this special time of year is very sentimental to her.

Love that door!

And Beverly didn’t forget the pillows:

Uh, oh. Naked bunny alert.

Better add a bow!

And some candy.

One more tip for making ANYTHING look special. Add lights.

My namesake friend, Sharon, gave me a gorgeous hydrangea.

I added some glimmer string lights. Battery operated from Pier One ($4.99).

Thanks to all my friends for contributing to this post.

I just put a similar bunny on my front door. It’s still really chilly here in Philadelphia (30 degrees this morning) but I’m hoping decorating will hurry the 60’s, 70’s and the birds along.

Hope it warms up for you soon in Pennsylvania. Sounds like you already have a head start on your spring decorating.
