This week, I continue my interview with stylist, social media manager, blogger, and native Texan Tamara Waterston, of Champagne + Macaroons.com. Tamara describes her style as “West Coast, feminine, and beachy, with a touch of glam.”
Tamara says, “Style affects multiple areas of your life and they all trickle together. From clothing, to home, to vacations, to activities, to lifestyle–they are all components of your personality.” She also says it took her a while to find her own personal style. “Trial and error are part of it all.”
Growing up in Texas, Tamara has a warm-weather mindset when it comes to her wardrobe. After college, she moved to LA where bathing suits are appropriate any time. And now living in Minnesota, Tamara finds that her choices are a culmination of influences from all these places and have helped her form her own unique style.
“My style can change with the seasons, the trends, or just the way I am feeling on a particular day. But it is mine and that feels the best.” –Tamara Waterston
Tamara’s home was recently featured on Inspired By This.com. Here are a few photos that exemplify Tamara’s West Coast, beachy, touch of glam style:
Tamara searches shops like Z Gallerie, Restoration Hardware, HomeGoods, and Pottery Barn for decor and design inspiration.
When I asked Tamara the best way to go about determining one’s “personal style,” she advises: “Dress for your own body type and personality. I always tell people that just because something is trendy or ‘in the moment’ doesn’t mean you have to wear it. We are all so different–what works for one person doesn’t always work for another. Find your favorite thing about yourself and emphasize that. And feel good when you leave the house. When I’m dressed and feeling good about myself, it can change my entire day.”
Tamara’s role models include Sienna Miller, Blake Lively, Sarah Jessica Parker and Bridget Bardot. She loves the eclectic style of each of these classic ladies.
Tamara seems to have cultivated her own “quintessential style.” In fact, her style must have caught the eye of friend and jewelry designer Sara Goldfine, because Sara created a necklace and named it after Tamara. (Click here to see Tamara’s lariat necklace.)**
I’ll conclude by thanking Tamara and asking her for some final tidbit of wisdom for us to take away. Here’s what she said:
“Know when to walk away. If you really need something, or it needs you, then you will know…I find this to be true in all aspects of life–jobs, friendships, pets, relationships, food, shopping. The best things always find their way into your life.”…Tamara Waterston
