The Surprising Essential for Every Traveler
September 28, 2019

On a recent trip to Europe, I found a common item in every hotel I visited. What was it? A SHOWER CAP. And I discovered there many more uses for this thin, elastic-plastic than merely keeping hair from getting wet.

WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO WITH THE UBIQUITOUS SHOWER CAP?

When you get to the hotel, cover your germy remote.

Turn on your TV with no worries.

Wrap dirty shoes in a cap, before you put them in your suitcase.

Use the cap to cover your camera when it’s raining.

Your cap can act as a knapsack to collect and keep odds and ends together.

Use your shower cap to collect shells or rocks–or almost anything. Then tie the top and store them tidily until you get home.

Some other uses for the Show-off Shower Cap:

  • Hair Tie (scrunchie)
  • Pooper Scooper
  • Ice Pack
  • Travel Vase (fill with water and wrap around stems of flowers)

And, when I wrapped a gift for our travel guide during the trip, what do you suppose I used for a makeshift bow?

YOU GUESSED IT!

Please let us know if you have more uses for using this AMAZING piece of gathered plastic. We LOVE your ideas–and your comments!

You use it as a mini sink if your hotel sink doesn’t have a stopper. It can hold 1-2 items if you need to wash socks or undies on your trip. Just add water and a little soap (or the hotel shampoo).

Oh my goodness….a bow! That was very clever!! I had to make Carl take me to a Pharmacy one time when we were out of town so I could buy one bow! I took the wrapping paper in my suitcase with the gift, but forgot the bow!!! Thanks for the idea!!!

    Hilde,
Haha. I did use tape to keep the bow together. (In Ireland they call it “cello tape.”)
