Where to Buy those GREAT SOUTHERN STYLES
May 22, 2019

Hey y’all, last week’s blog highlighted some of the unique treasures I discovered on my recent trip to Georgia and South Carolina. You won’t even have to leave the house to purchase original jewelry, clothing, and accessories direct from the Deep South–by way of the internet!

Spartina 449

My new favorite store is Spartina 449.  Inspired by the natural beauty of a small island off the coast of South Carolina, company founder and CEO, Kay Stanley, imagined how linen and leather could marry with “colorful patterns and timeless stories.”  Here are some images from this amazing boutique.

Spartina 449 boutiques are scattered throughout the South. And the store has been featured in SOUTHERN LIVING magazine.

These bags are simple in design, allowing colorful floral patterns to take center stage.
If you like pink, you’re in luck!
These cute gals work at the flagship store in Bluffton, SC.

Old Town Engravers

Monogrammed mother of pearl medallion $30 and freshwater pearls $46.

If you love personalized jewelry, these spectacular mother-of-pearl medallions from Old Town Engravers will delight you, and the prices will blow your mind. (Three initial medallion with sterling silver bail $30.) I ordered one and cannot wait to receive it.

Creator Tara Warthen with her mom at Mayfest in Bluffton, SC.

Creator Tara Warthen says the merging of two quintessential southern staples– a strand of pearls and a monogram–are what inspired her to start her engraving business in 2018. Her jewelry is advertised in Southern Living’s “South’s Best” issue.

Single initial on mother of pearl $28. Wear with pearls, on a chain, or on a wire. They will go with absolutely everything!

little fish BOATEAK

Lissy Rawl is owner and designer of Little Fish BOATEAK. Using unique designs and unexpected textiles, Lissy creates nautically-inspired accessories that are absolutely singular.

Gingham earrings and rope with gold and pearls.
Textured, toned-down colors make a one-of-a-kind statement earring.

The Paris Market and Brocante

When you walk into this century-old building located in Old Town Savannah, you feel as though you’ve entered some upscale Parisian flea market. Charming accessories, home goods, jewelry, perfumes, lotions, and soaps await–upstairs and down. Take a look.

A wall of colorful macarons greets you at the door.
French table settings downstairs. Tres chic.
A plethora of nautical delights.
“Brocante” in French literally means “second hand market.”

And I couldn’t leave South Carolina without a little souvenir of my own. Here’s what I brought home:

I couldn’t resist this colorful bag from Spartina that can be worn over-the-shoulder or as a cross-body. The fabric makes me so happy.

So long, sweet South. I hope we meet again…real soon!

I’ve already made a purchase from Old Town Engravers – the 3 initial medallion. If I like it I’m thinking of gifting either the single initial. It’s already on its way. I can’t wait to see it!!
Thank you for the links to these special little stores (I could shop there for hours!!) so I can enjoy them online!!
I loved this blog and the last one – great job!!!!!

    Diane,
The bail on the three-initial medallion is very large–even your largest pearls will fit. The single medallion and bail are a little smaller just FYI. But just as pretty. I received mine this week and absolutely love it!
