In a recent interview with Kate Winslet, InStyle writer Chloe Fox captured KW’s essence with these words: Intense. Homey. Sophisticated. Cheeky. Confident. Daring. Wow…I’d call that a definitive Personal Style Statement.
The subject of my last two blogs has been how to create your own Personal Style Statement, and Quintessential Style devotes an entire chapter to this singular topic: “Who Are You…Today?”
Janna says it best, “Every day we make choices that support our intentions. Self-knowledge is the key to self-empowerment. The more comfortable you become in your own skin (warts and all), the more confidence you gain in making choices that match your true essence.”
We are sharing our Personal Style Statements. Here they are:
Janna: Interestingly Harmonious; Colorful. Connected, and Aware. I love discovering things that communicate “Who I am.” I am a simple person and I like everything I wear to be in harmony with me, color-wise and otherwise, and to reflect some aspect of myself (interestingly harmonious; colorful). I am at my best when my life is in balance and, in my work, it is important that I be conscious of current trends of the moment (connected and aware).
Sharon: Meaningful. Invitingly Chic. Welcoming. Gracious. I love things that speak to me or have some special significance (meaningful). (My friends and family know wherever I travel, I collect heart-shaped rocks and shells.) I like whimsy and fun, but I also like beauty and quality (invitingly chic). My goal is to exude a welcoming demeanor that attracts, never puts off (welcoming and gracious).
So if you are having trouble with your PSS, ask a trusted friend to describe you. Go to your closet and find the outfit that announces, “This is Me!” And continually ask yourself: “Who am I — TODAY?” Because your personal style statement is bound to change and evolve through time, just like you.
“Find out who you are — on purpose.” —Dolly Parton
