Fur is so chic. Whether it’s faux or real, fur has a way of taking an outfit to the next level. During the holidays, when the weather outside if frightful, and we need a little more warmth, it’s the perfect time to accessorize with fur.
I love this look by Wendy Nguyen. She adds elegance to a basic black dress with a fur snood. When she slips on her coat, she simply pulls out the snood, so it covers her collar, and it gives her coat a completely chic look.
Okay, I know a lot of your are wondering what a snood is. According to accessories expert, Bridgette Raes, snood has several meanings. “In terms of fashion trends, a snood is basically a tubular scarf, like a large cowl. It differs from an infinity scarf in that it sits higher on the neck and can often act like a hood, whereas an infinity scarf is more of a looped scarf that can sit around the neck.”
Ha…I knew you had been dying to know that.
Anyway, back to fur.
Take a look at the way fur can add some sophistication to your winter style.
Simply drape a fur piece over any jacket. You can secure with pins. It can completely change the look of a coat.
Or add a fur collar to an ordinary top, to make it special..
Whether you call it a snood, a cowl, or an infinity scarf, adding a little fur can be totally fabulous.
*Snood technically has another definition: Historically (and in some cultures still today) a snood was a small bag of fine thread—netted, tatted, knitted, crocheted, or knotted— enclosing a bob of long hair, holding it close to the neck.
So happy we got that all straightened out.

Hi gals,
Yes, I remember “snood” from bygone days, my aunt wore one back in the day with long hair “wrapped in it.” I love the fur idea and have tried on some “fabulous fake furs,” but it was way too hot the day I was shopping to actually think of buying one. Now, this weekend it would have been perfect weather for the look!
Thanks for brightening my day!
Always faithful,
Carol K.
Carol,
I bet if we all looked in our closets we could find some kind of fur from our mom or grandmother. Fur is the kind of thing one tends to keep. Even a small collar can spice up a look. And wearing a memory makes it even more special.
Thanks for writing, dear friend.

Greta article! I love the look of the fur collars and scarves and cowls. What a fabulous way to dress up a jacket or coat. Very stylish!
SO chic!! Perfect look. Really love the fur snood.
I love to wear fur and when Texas weather allows me, I certainly take advantage of it. I love the idea of the ‘snood’. I was lucky enough to buy a number of fur pieces at an auction and have never found a way of wearing them– now I have. Thanks a bunch Sharon.
🙂
