Remember the ‘Crazy Target Lady’? I can certainly relate.
The same thing happens every year. I flip my calendar from November to December and the anxiety sets in. Why do I feel overwhelmed after every Thanksgiving knowing I have less than four weeks to prepare for the holidays? I always say: “I can’t believe Christmas is almost here.” It’s not like this is an new phenomenon. I should know better by now.
I happen to love the holidays. But I’ll admit, it takes time (and energy) to decorate, bake, wrap gifts, and send cards. Here are a few quick ideas that might, at least, help with decorating.
Tie on a holiday bow or a sprig of greenery. A light fixture, a painting, a chair–Just about anything seems to look more ‘holidayish’ with a bow.

I like to tie a plaid bow around my Staffordshire dogs.

A sprig of greenery even makes art look more festive.
Never underestimate the power of the poinsettia. Easy and inexpensive. Place a poinsettia wherever you need some holiday cheer.

Large…

or small.
Let your decor do double-duty.

Got an extra wreath you’re not using on the door?

Just add a candle and voila–instant centerpiece.

I like to sprinkle a little faux ‘sparkle’ snow on pretty much everything.
Add a little whimsy…to a plant, to a wreath, to anything.

Pull Out Your Collections. If you have three or four angels, Santas, snowmen, or reindeer–you’ve basically got a collection. Group them together for maximum impact.

I collect Russian Santas and I can’t wait to pull them out each year.
And don’t forget the reason for the season.

Please, please share your holiday ideas. Our readers love hearing from each other! (Just write a comment below.)
And for heaven’s sake…bring out those pillows!
