Some of you know I turned 60 on January 1st. I was soulfully and seriously preparing to wallow in self-reflection about the last six decades. But, fortunately, my amazing FRIENDS intervened. Instead, we toasted the good times and the not-so-good times. We laughed and remembered.
Friend Gail met me over 30 years ago. She must have guessed I’d need a hefty dose of humor in the days to come. She gifted me this excellent book from Hallmark:
If you know me, you know I love a great quote. Here are some of the funniest I’ve seen lately. I wanted to share. I hope they make you laugh as hard as I did.
And this quote is a personal favorite. It always makes me pause and think.
Today you are the oldest you’ve ever been, and the youngest you’ll ever be again. — Eleanor Roosevelt
Please send me your favorite quote. I keep a notebook full of them, and I’m always searching for more.
Laughter with friends; the ultimate gift. Thanks to everyone who made my birthday truly unforgettable.

One of my favorite quotes.
We come dust
We’ll be dust again
Therefore I don’t dust – it might be somebody I know.
Happy Birthday – praying this is your best year yet.
Ha,ha,ha,ha.
I have never heard this. It is great. Thanks for my laugh of the day!
Sharon, celebrate all month, 60 is the new 40! This quote was given to me by a dear friend when I tragically lost my sister some years ago, it stays by my computer so that it is repeated every day as the computer boots up.
“Guide me on a path that’s safe and let my journey be a walk in grace.”
Carol
Oh, Carol,
This has special meaning for me because My One Word for 2019 is grace/gracious. Thank you for sending it.
“Happiness is never an accident. It is the prize we get when we choose wisely from life’s great stores”…..Irene Dunne (Actress in one of my favorite movies, “I Remember Momma”)
Linda,
This is beautiful. I will rewatch the movie just to hear Irene Dunne say it. Thanks for writing.
I meant “Mama” …..sorry Irene!
“Elegance is the only beauty that will never fade.” -Audrey Hepburn
Jill,
Yes, yes. Elegance is that magical quality of making others feel special. A gentleness of spirit. It has nothing to do with beauty. I agree!
Don’t put a question mark where God put a period.
Beverly,
Wow–this one is deep. It’s going to take me days to figure it out! I love a challenge! Thank you.
I also have a notebook for sayings, quotes, memories, etc. Here’s one I like:
Just because you don’t look like somebody who you think is attractive doesn’t mean you aren’t attractive.
Flowers are pretty but so are Christmas lights and they look nothing alike.
Laura, I LOVE the quote–and the analogy.
Thank you for sharing.
Sharon,
Didn’t realize it was your 60th Birthday so Happy Birthday again!! I love quotes too and I’m going to save some of these. One of my favorite “silly” quotes is this one, and you know how much I love to shop💕!
“Shopping with your husband is like going hunting with the game warden!”
Diane,
Right on! Haha. My game warden usually finds the closest chair and plays solitaire on his phone.
