ideas

We are so excited about our Wednesday Discovery blog. Thanks for your great suggestions and tips  Every other Wednesday, we will be posting readers’ ideas and suggestions. Send us ideas that will make life easier, more interesting, and, of course, more stylish. In case you missed ideas from last time, click here.

1.No more tangled earrings.  Our first idea comes from Diane Jordan of Waco. Diane says when she travels, she tucks her wire-back earrings into the holes of large buttons, so they don’t get tangled or mismatched. Brilliant!

2. Removing deodorant and makeup stains from clothing.  Ever put your top on and realize you’ve gotten deodorant, powder, or makeup on it? This idea comes from one of Janna’s clients.  She uses a webbed sponge to remove makeup and deodorant spots. Try rubbing the area with a dry sponge first. If that doesn’t work, moisten with water.

3. Avoiding the ‘Turkey-Neck’ Selfie. You probably already know this one, but raising your cell phone just a few inches higher than eye-level and looking up into the camera will prevent the dreaded ‘turkey-neck.’ Let’s all say “No” to turkey necks, by raising our phones.

The photo on left shows my lovely friend Sharla taking a shot at eye level. In the second photo, even the lighting improves simply by raising her phone above her head. (Shadows disappear.)

For full-length shots,  read our previous blog, “Tips from a Master Photographer” and remember FAY:

  1. Foot forward
  2. Arms away
  3. Yes – Say “yes,” instead of cheese.

Works every time. Here are two photos I recently took of my friend Maria, which perfectly illustrate the point.

Thanks, Sharla and Maria for posing for us.

Just remember: Straight-on photos are never as flattering as angling yourself, or the camera, to create some dimension.

PLEASE SEND US YOUR TIPS AND IDEAS! (qstylethebook@gmail.com)WE LOVE THEM.
